The 102-year-old K.R.Gouri Amma died in Thiruvananthapuram because old age related diseases. 

 Communist K.R. Gouri, who died at a private clinic in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday morning because old age related diseases, has shockingly a few firsts in her profession  that reflect both the rise and fall  of a ladies empowerment  in Kerala. 

One of her well known saying is 

‘I will raise my voice till my last breath for empowering women’: K.R. Gouri Amma, the greatest woman leader of Kerala.

Early Life of K.R.Gouri Amma –

Gouri Amma came into the public eye in 1946 as an understudy lobbyist. She took an interest in student  battle as part of  the Quit India Movement and was the primary lady from the Ezhava community to graduate in law. 

Political carrer

She filled in as Minister for Revenue, Excise and Devaswom from April 1957 to 1959 on the world first elected democratic Communist government drove by Chief Minister E.M.S. Namboodiripad. Gouri Amma, who was removed from the CPI(M) in 1994 for anti party exercises, so she established the Janathipathiya Samrakshana Samithy (JSS). Gouri Amma dealt with the department of Agriculture University, Animal Husbandry and Coir in the Oommen Chandy Cabinet during 2004 to 2006. Last days of her life 

She was moved from her home in Cherthala, Alappuzha to her niece’s home in Thiruvananthapuram a month ago, and was conceded to a private clinic on April 22 after fever. She was in and out of ICU in the previous week, and take her her last breath  at 7 a.m. on May 11.
